The death of the traditional British Library as we know it?

I was at my local library yesterday – I’m back in Hampshire for a short while – and I wondered how they were being affected by the cuts in local authority budgets. Will this well-known British institution disappear from our streets? Not only budgets are affecting them – ebooks are threatening the traditional publishing and distribution model. I called my publisher and got a commitment to make a few copies of Gate of Tears available free of charge to local libraries (i.e. South of England).
